From the trails, rivers, and mountain paths that I explore, I’m reminded every day that our planet is both our greatest teacher and a shared responsibility.
Earth Day is now in its 56th year and Red Barn Publishing joins the globe to celebrate not just the beauty of the natural world, but the growing global commitment to protect it.
This year’s theme calls on us to deepen our connection to the Earth and take meaningful steps to preserve it for future generations.
Stories That Inspire a Love for the Natural World
At Red Barn Publishing, that mission is at the heart of what we do. Through stories like The Adventures of Backpacker Billy, the Four Brothers Mystery Series, and Musical Discover with Pete’s Beat we aim to spark curiosity, wonder, and respect for the environment in young readers.
And with our upcoming release, Monkey and the Engineer, we continue that journey by blending storytelling with an appreciation for the natural world and the rhythms that connect us all. Inspired by the Grateful Dead the summer release of Monkey and the Engineer is this summers biggest event.
Celebrating Nature Through Adventure, Music, and National Parks
We are especially proud to share that our Backpacker Billy and Shave books, highlighting the breathtaking landscapes of Zion National Park and the rugged beauty of Colorado are being celebrated by the National Parks. These stories were inspired by the awe of nature.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a nature adventurer, it’s this: when children experience the outdoors whether through books or exploring the forests they begin to understand its value. And once they understand it, they’re far more likely to protect it.
This Earth Day, I encourage everyone to step outside, read a story rooted in nature, and remember that every small action matters. The trails we walk today shape the world we leave behind tomorrow.
