Summer Reading

How Red Barn Publishing Builds Author Partnerships and New Summer Releases

At Red Barn Publishing, there’s a particular kind of magic that surrounds a new release, an energy that begins long before a book ever reaches a reader’s hands. It starts in quiet moments of creation, when an author shapes an idea into something tangible, and it grows through collaboration, trust, and a shared vision.

The relationship between author and publisher is unlike any other. It is both deeply professional and profoundly personal. Authors bring their stories, often years in the making and it may be the first time they are getting creative feedback and that time is filled with vulnerability, imagination, and heart.

Publishers, in turn, become stewards of those stories, nurturing them, refining them, and helping them find their place in the world. There is an unspoken bond formed in this process: a mutual belief that the story matters and deserves to be told well.

As a manuscript evolves into a finished book, excitement builds on both sides. Edits, cover designs, early proofs—each step carries its own spark. For authors, seeing their words take physical form is nothing short of extraordinary. For publishers, it is the fulfillment of a promise: to honor the author’s voice while bringing the work to its fullest potential. Together, they share in the anticipation, the nervousness, and ultimately, the joy of release day.

That shared energy is what defines Red Barn Publishing. Every book is a collaboration, every launch a celebration not just of a finished product, but of the partnership that made it possible.

And now, as the season turns, we are thrilled to announce our upcoming summer releases: Rik Thistle’s Golden Nugget, The Monkey and The Engineer, and a special creative collaboration with Jodie Newdelman. We’ll also heading into space with The Adventures of Backpacker Billy and Shave—stories that promise imagination, adventure, and the signature spirit of Red Barn. A few authors with books for older readers are knocking on our barn door and we are looking at expanding from our base of books for children.

We can’t wait to share them with you.
